Talking Should I get this card?

Hey guys.

Ok before I begin, I'm a real ditz when it comes to technical computer things, but I've just bought GW today to find that it runs like a snail. I've gone through the forums, updated my drivers and done everything else I think I could have done, and then realised that I had no other choice but to get a new video card.

My current video card is SiS 630/730 (I have no idea if this is good or bad).

When I read the back of the box, it reccomends the video card "ATI Radeon 9000", and I gave my grandad a call (he's a whiz!). He said that he could get me "Radeon 9600", so I'm thinking of going with that one.

It might sound dumb, but should I go with this? All I know is that 9600 is a higher number than 9000 so it sounds better to me! LMAO. Please, please let me know asap.

people who have 9600 cards say they are happy with them

get a pro or XT model

do not ever get a le or ls model as they are very poor performers

Oh, great...so it's a good choice then! Thanks a bunch dudey!

Edit - Thanks, so it would be Radeon 9600 Pro, then? If so I will write it down and arrange to get one as soon as I can. Sorry for being a pain, but I'm totally clueless! Lol.

Before getting a new card, make sure you meet other system requirements. (memory, processor mainly)

The Radeon 9000 is a little long in the tooth, but if you dont game much, may be right up your alley.

If you plan to invest or play more games, getting something a little higher up the food chain such as a 9600 non pro (not se) or 9600 pro/xt would be better.

Well I use the internet a lot, but I don't really play that many online games. When I do, I play games like GW. I got GW because a few msn buddies reccomended it . I'll have to talk to grandad in the morning...he'll be in bed now. Dunno if he can even get Pro/XT models.

Oh! And I did ask him if the Radeon 9600 would be ok for my computer, and he said yes.

The Radeon 9600 is a good card, go for it. Make sure to buy the Radeon 9600 XT version though, it's the best of the 9600 range by far.

Of course it's the most expensive 9600, you get what you pay for. However, even the 9600 XT is still absurdly cheap compared to newer cards.

Well, that is what GW tech support said too. But, this is my dilema.

One of my PC's at home has this Vid Card in it. I can get GW's to run. I can zone, run around, and fight, but when I open the inventory and try to move an item over more than one space, my PC crashes & re-starts itself.

However, my PC at work has almost the same specs at the PC at home and has this same Vid Card in it. The work PC runs GW's perfectly fine, with only little lag here and there.

What do you think the problem could be?

Here are some snipits from doing a DxDiag on both PC's. (took out what I believe to be non-pertinent info)
